Purpose: |
Often forwards who are checking into seams will receive the ball with their back to their own goal. This session is designed to train players on how to receive with their back to goal and when to turn to create shot opportunities. Teams that have players skilled in turning to create shots are very dangerous as they can create at any time. By the time the players are done with this session they should understand the technical aspects of turning to finish as well as when to do it.
|
Equipment: |
Cones, pinnies, balls. |
Progression: |
Fundamental:
The warm up is designed to get the players ready to receive and turn while
looking to take a quick shot on frame
Match Related:
The session progresses to a more structured format as the players receive
a ball then turn to create a shot without pressure. Pressure is added
slowly
based on success. As the session advances the game gets more difficult and
decision making is required to know when to turn and when to lay off
Match Condition:
The game ends in a fiver versus five match with players working off of each
other continually checking into space, looking to play quickly and aggressively.
When the opportunity is there they should find the chance to turn, if it
is not there they should find a way to play the way they face to create.
